About the Author
I was told I would never be an artist.
In my 20s I nearly gave up on the idea. I decided to get a ‘proper job’. I started leading a double life - training to become a primary school teacher, telling kids to behave by day, while running down railway lines and painting trains at night.
Teaching didn’t work out. A proper job didn’t feel right. It took a long time but I finally started listening to myself and dedicated myself to my art.
After years of living as a ‘starving artist’, things started to change.
I’ve since made art for MTV, Fortnum & Mason, Nobu and celebs like Shaq and Busta Rhymes.
However, my proudest achievement, in a very full circle moment, is knowing that my work is now a part of the art syllabus of several UK schools (and one in France!)
Maybe you’re not as crazy as they said. Maybe art and creativity are more important than the school system taught you.
Join us if you’d enjoy an occasional creative pep talk, inspiring podcast episode, art story or you want to start a creative rebellion.
