I loved this. Listened yesterday and have been mulling it over since. I build websites for small businesses and always encourage them to start a mailing list - those subscribers are so valuable. One client in particular writes really good blog posts (she’s a landscape gardener) so she already has great content, and her subscribers are likely to include a few potentially high-spend clients. Such a targeted audience.
My husband works in comms and has been trying to persuade some of his (big name media) clients to use their contact lists for quality newsletters promoting their initiatives rather than shouting into the void on LinkedIn. They haven’t gone for it yet but it makes so much more sense than pouring everything into platforms which they really have no control over in terms of audience or reach (despite big budgets!).
Thanks for having this conversation. It’s great to hear about alternatives to social media promotion. I just can’t get myself motivated to push my work on socials. You’ve motivated me to dust off my mailing list 😄
Loved this episode @David Speed @Seth Werkheiser and so pleased Creative Rebels is back :) Always added it to the Listening List for the programmes I run for creatives and will add Social Media Esacpe Club to the resources now too! thank you :))
Such a powerful reminder and a great conversation we need to keep going amongst creatives nowadays!
Heck yes!

Thanks for this. A lot of food for thought!
